The Centre for Autism Services Alberta (CFASA)
The Centre for Autism Services Alberta (CFASA) exists to empower Autistic people and their families to thrive. We are a Canadian leader in individualized services, early childhood services, therapy, applied research and training, and enrichment programming for children, teens, and young adults with autism and their families. We provide comprehensive and innovative supports and services to those with autism.
We are the only accredited autism service provider in Alberta (Accredited in Behavioural Consultation Services by CARF International). CFASA operates under a person-centered, family-focused model, where our services and programs reflect what is important to Autistic people. We integrate developmental and behavioural sciences using strategies in natural activities, routines, and preferences of the persons served to teach skills and promote success. At CFASA, we strive to ensure that individuals with autism lead meaningful, engaged lives.
Our Services:
Specialized Services and Behavioural/Developmental Supports
Every Specialized Services program is unique and will be created according to your child’s and family needs. With 20+ years of experience, the Centre has developed a philosophy and approach that is holistic, inclusive, values children and families, and prioritizes strategies that have been shown to work with others in similar situations.
Specialized Services (SS) and Behavioural/Developmental Supports (BDS) are available in Edmonton and Calgary. To access SS and BDS at the Centre, children require a documented diagnosis of autism or a query of autism and must qualify under FSCD’s criteria.
CFASA's BDS and SS supports may also include some of the following wonderful group-based learning for children and their family:
Facing your Fears: A supportive group for parents and children designed to empower kids to be brave and conquer their fears.
STEPS: A group, available both in-person and virtually, dedicated to helping parents learn how to support their children's independence in self-care activities.
Start: A group, available both in-person and virtually, that focuses on parents learning how to increase their child's ability to communicate their wants and needs.
Community Enrichment Programs
Individuals do not need an autism diagnosis to access our community enrichment programs. These programs include art, summer camp, social programs, and sport, and take place at the Centre, and out in the community at various locations around Edmonton like Commonwealth Recreation Centre, Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts, and more.
